
Call for Abstracts
The Scientific Committee of the WCET® - NSWOCC® Joint Congress 2026 invites healthcare professionals, researchers, and clinicians to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations. This congress will focus on wound care, ostomy care, continence management, education, and leadership, and will bring together professionals from around the world to share research, best practices, and innovations in these fields.

Abstract Submission Guidelines

Abstract Submission Details:

Abstract Length: Abstract Length: Abstracts must be between 200 and 300 words. Abstracts exceeding 300 words will not be reviewed. The reference list is not included in the word count. Supplemental materials (photos, articles, or reports) are prohibited.
References are not included in the limit. A separate field is listed for Title and Authors, so they are also not included in the word count limit. References should be written in Vancouver Style. Please enter your abstract under "Session Description". -
Presentation Format: You will be asked to indicate your preference for an oral or poster presentation during the submission process.

Industry partners are eligible to submit abstracts exclusively for poster presentations. Each company may submit a maximum of seven (7) posters, with generic product names required.

An Industry Poster is defined as a presentation where the industry/company has direct involvement in the study, and/or has provided financial support for the study or for clinician attendance at the congress (covering travel and/or registration expenses).

Authors: A maximum of six (6) authors may be listed per abstract. Please ensure all co-authors are aware of and have approved the submission. Industry representatives are allowed to submit for poster abstracts only. There is no limit to the number of abstracts that an individual clinician can submit.

Visuals and Figures: Visuals, graphics, and photographs presented in the abstract must comply with copyright laws. The presenting author is solely responsible for obtaining informed consent and permissions for any visuals used. These visuals must be cited appropriately, and copyright violations will result in disqualification.

Language: All abstracts must be submitted in English. The congress will be conducted primarily in English; however, Wordly translation services will be available to support non-English oral presentations.

Presentation Time: Each oral presentation is 12 minutes maximum (you cannot go over the time limit). Audience questions will be taken at the end of the full free-paper block, not after individual presentations. If you are presenting in a language other than English, you can opt to use Wordly translation for the oral presentation.

Notification of Acceptance: The primary (submitting) author will receive an email notification confirming abstract submission and acceptance. It is the responsibility of the submitting author to keep all co-authors informed of the status of the submission.

All work submitted must be the original work of the authors. Any use of copyrighted material must be appropriately referenced, and plagiarism will be considered a serious violation. Copyright laws must be adhered to at all times.

Visuals (graphs, figures, images) must have informed consent from individuals shown, and the copyright owner must give written permission for any visuals used in the presentation. The responsibility for obtaining these permissions lies with the presenting author.

Submission Policy:

Abstracts cannot be edited or updated once submitted.

After submitting an abstract, the primary author will receive a confirmation email. If this email is not received, please contact the Congress Organiser at office@nswoc.ca.

Final presentations must reflect the content of the submitted abstract and cannot be altered after submission.

All co-authors listed in the submission must have given explicit permission to be included.

If the presenting author is unable to attend, they may delegate the presentation to another author. A maximum of two presenters is permitted for joint research projects.

For any research involving human or animal subjects, ethical approval must have been obtained from the relevant committee.

Conflict of Interest:

Presenters must disclose any conflicts of interest before starting their presentations. This disclosure is a requirement for all speakers.

Any visuals shown in presentations must also have informed consent and include a conflict of interest declaration.
Abstract Publication and Registration:

By submitting an abstract, you authorize WCET® - NSWOCC® to publish your abstract in the congress materials, including organizational publications and websites.

Registration: Once your abstract is accepted, you must complete your congress registration within one month to confirm your participation. Failure to register may result in the withdrawal of your abstract. If you are unable to register within this timeframe, please contact office@nswoc.ca.
Oral Abstract Submission Details:

Presentation Format: Oral presentations will be delivered via PowerPoint. A congress-specific PowerPoint template will be provided. All PowerPoint slides must be displayed in English, even if the speaker presents in another language.

Submission of Presentations: Presentations must be submitted for review by December 31, 2026, to ensure that they meet the congress’s guidelines. A final version of your presentation should also be submitted to the speaker-ready room the day before your scheduled presentation.

Poster Abstract Submission Details:

Poster Size: Posters should be printed on A0-sized paper in a portrait orientation.

Design Considerations: Ensure that titles, legends, graphs, and illustrations are legible from a distance of 1.5 meters.

Poster Mounting: Mounting will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own mounting materials if desired. Please ensure the poster is not too heavy for easy display.

Language: All posters must be in English.
Withdrawal or Cancellation:
If you need to withdraw your accepted abstract, please inform the Congress Organiser at office@nswoc.ca as soon as possible.
